A meaningful outreach program at Jesu Ashram
Outreach program - St. Joseph's School, North Point
"St. Joseph's School, North Point, Darjeeling, along with the school's Interact Club and the
LTS, organized a meaningful outreach program at Jesu Ashram in Siliguri. The event was led
by the Auxilio Egentium group, whose members were dedicated to providing support and
care to the residents.
Our visit began with assisting the Ashram faculty in the distribution of food, ensuring that
the residents received nutritious meals. This simple act of service allowed us to connect with
individuals on a personal level, listening to their stories and offering much-needed
companionship. Many of the residents suffer from challenging health conditions, and our
presence provided them with a sense of community and comfort.
In addition to food distribution, we carried out a cleaning drive to help maintain the
cleanliness of the Ashram. Our team worked together, cleaning common areas and creating
a more pleasant environment for the residents. This activity not only improved the living
conditions at the Ashram but also reinforced the importance of teamwork and service in our
lives.
Perhaps the most impactful part of the visit was our tour of the leprosy center. There, we
learned about the difficulties faced by those suffering from the disease, not just physically
but also emotionally, as many are marginalized by society. Our interactions with these
individuals were deeply humbling, and it became clear that our efforts, though small, made
a difference in brightening their day. We also witnessed the dedication of the staff at the
center, who work tirelessly to care for the patients.
The entire experience left us with a deeper understanding of the struggles faced by
vulnerable communities and strengthened our commitment to serve others. We left Jesu
Ashram not just as visitors, but as people transformed by the power of compassion and the
importance of social responsibility."
